This classic 1940s south Minneapolis home had undergone previous renovations that did not do it justice both aesthetically or functionally. Details of existing millwork were brought back into the kitchen cabinetry and new decorative column. A pass-through opening was created between the kitchen and dining room, maintaining the traditional floor plan while literally opening up space for conversation. A custom non-permanent furniture island offers space-saving flexibility as well as a space for seated guests. A European style mantle hearth and modern pendant fixtures were seamlessly incorporated, reflecting the homeowner’s preference for simple Scandinavian design.
