Quartersawn Returns to Hearts & Hammers

For seven years, Quartersawn has had the privilege of partnering with Hearts & Hammers, an organization dedicated to helping homeowners facing tough circumstances remain safe, independent, and comfortable in the homes they love.

Since 2020, our staff, trade partners, and volunteers have rolled up their sleeves alongside Hearts & Hammers to provide free exterior home restorations for homeowners who might otherwise struggle to keep up with essential maintenance. What began as a single volunteer project has grown into a cherished annual tradition, allowing us to use our skills, time, and resources to make a meaningful impact in our community.

As we prepare for our seventh Hearts & Hammers project, we’re celebrating what we like to call “Lucky Number 7.” While every year brings a new home, a new homeowner, and a new story, the heart behind the work remains the same: neighbors helping neighbors.

Quartersawn Supports Hearts Hammers

A Partnership Built on Community

Hearts & Hammers serves senior citizens, veterans, and individuals living with disabilities by coordinating volunteer-powered home improvement projects. Their mission helps homeowners maintain independence and preserve the pride and security that comes with staying in their own homes.

This mission closely aligns with Quartersawn’s values. Building and restoring homes is what we do every day, but the opportunity to use those skills to give back makes these projects especially meaningful. None of it would be possible without the generosity of our employees, trade partners, and community volunteers who donate their time and expertise year after year.

Over the past seven years, we’ve had the honor of working with incredible homeowners throughout the Twin Cities metro area:

  • South Minneapolis • 2020
  • North Minneapolis • 2021
  • Brooklyn Center • 2022
  • South Minneapolis • 2023
  • Plymouth • 2024
  • Brooklyn Center • 2025
  • Mound • 2026

Each project has left a lasting impression on everyone involved. From painting and repairs to landscaping and exterior improvements, every effort has helped keep a deserving homeowner safely in their home while strengthening the sense of community that Hearts & Hammers fosters.

Looking Ahead to Year Seven

This year marks our seventh consecutive year participating in Hearts & Hammers, and we’re excited to once again bring together our team, trade partners, and volunteers for another day of service.

As always, we’ll be dedicating our time and talents to helping a homeowner restore and renew their property, creating a home they can continue to enjoy for years to come.

This Year’s Story

Our 7th year partnering with Hearts & Hammers brought us to Kimberly’s home in Mound, where an incredible group of volunteers came together to make a meaningful difference. Throughout the day, 24 people donated their time, energy, and expertise to help complete improvements around the property and support a deserving homeowner.

The volunteer team included 11 Quartersawn Design Build employees and 5 Quartersawn family members, along with 8 dedicated trade partner volunteers. We were especially grateful for the support of Troy Lynch, owner of Hurlburt Heating & Plumbing; the owners of Art of Cleaning, who also volunteered two team members to help clean the interior of the home; and three volunteers from River Heights.

As with every Hearts & Hammers project, the day was about much more than home improvements. It was an opportunity for employees, family members, and trade partners to work side by side, build connections, and give back to the community. From the first task of the morning to the final cleanup, the group embodied the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors.

Seeing so many people come together in support of Kimberly and her home reminded us why this partnership remains such an important tradition for Quartersawn. Seven years in, we continue to be inspired by the generosity of our team and community partners, and we are proud to help make a lasting impact through Hearts & Hammers.

Grateful for Seven Years

We are incredibly thankful to Hearts & Hammers for the opportunity to be part of this important mission. We are equally grateful to the Quartersawn team, our trade partners, and the many volunteers who have contributed their energy and talents over the years.

Seven years in, we’re reminded that home is more than a structure. It’s where memories are made, families gather, and lives unfold. Through Hearts & Hammers, we’re honored to help preserve those homes and the people who call them home.

Here’s to Lucky Number 7 and another year of making a difference together.
